A Big Day

By | May 15, 2012

I’ve created a number of digital publications over the years, but this was the first one in which the whole family was involved. Lots of little details that most will never guess needed to be done were worked on by these four over the last year. Thus they were all excited when I delivered the… Read More »

May 13

By | May 13, 2011

In-N-Out opened in Texas on Wednesday.  Some cars ran out of gas waiting in line.  Our son reports that a kid was wearing a “In-N-Out Texas” T-shirt to school on Thursday. I am now a “candidate” for the Ph.D. degree.  It seems like a lot of time and money to only become what the dictionary… Read More »

Pass

By | April 5, 2011

This morning I had my oral comprehensive exam.  After two hours of questioning about issues of Bible content and interpretation, the professors informed me that I had passed the exam.  I am thankful to those who prayed for me.  The Lord is good to have sustained me through this long process.

By | December 15, 2009

For those of you keeping score at home, this morning I completed another phase in my PhD program.  I will never again sit in a classroom as a student.  Until, of course, I do.  But assuming that I pass all of the present courses, I am not required to enroll in any more seminars for… Read More »

A Long Hike

By | September 22, 2009

An American Christian guy is hiking the Israel Trail, reports the Jerusalem Post, and I’m wondering if they have an article about me.  No, my doctoral dissertation is not on “hiking trails and tourism in Israel.”  Where did I lose my way? If you ‘re an IBEX alumnus, you should join the Facebook group.  If… Read More »

Finished, Yet Not Started

By | December 13, 2007

Earlier today I went to my last class and turned in my last paper for my Masters of Theology (Th.M.) degree.  The name really is a misnomer in some ways – I didn’t study “theology” and my major was “Old Testament.”  And I’m technically not a “graduate” until the work is graded and the grade… Read More »
